Winter begins this weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The shortest day of the year is Saturday signaling the start of the winter season.
Tonight
A sunny but blustery afternoon will become a cold and breezy night as wind gusts will continue to push 20 mph from the northwest past midnight. Expect low temperatures to dip below freezing across the board, however faucets will not need to be dripped. Skies overhead will remain clear.
Tomorrow
Saturday is the Winter Solstice, or the shortest day of the year. It will be a chilly one with highs that hover just above the 50 degree mark. Wind will generally flow from the north at around 5 mph. A couple of clouds may pass over during the afternoon, however overall conditions will be sunny.
Overnight will be clear and frigid as temperatures for many spots around Middle Georgia dip into the upper 20s. Dripping the faucets likely wont be needed, however it never hurts to be precautious.
Sunday
Sunday will also be sunny and cool with highs that hover around the 50 degree mark. Wind will flow from the northeast at 5-10 mph, gusting between 15 and 20 mph. Overnight will also be cold as temperatures again drop into the mid to upper 20s.
