ORIGINAL STORY (9/16):

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A fire was set in Warner Robins High School’s multi-purpose room early Monday morning, according to a message sent to parents by Principal Chris McCook.

The fire caused minimal damage thanks to the school’s sprinkler system and a quick response from the fire department.

The school remained open for students on Monday after maintenance crews worked overnight to ensure the facility was ready.

“I am grateful to the fire department for their quick response and our maintenance staff who worked during the night to make sure the school was ready for students to arrive this morning,” McCook said. “This incident will not take away the safe learning environment that our students deserve!”

Law enforcement was also on campus to investigate.
