WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In honor of Black History Month, hundreds gathered at the Booth Road Walmart in Warner Robins on Thursday to celebrate Walmart’s Middle Georgia 2nd Annual Black History Parade.
The event was organized to celebrate the contributions of African Americans in the community and the role Walmart plays.
The Walmart parking lot was transformed into a lively area with food trucks, a bounce house and dancing.
“This event means connectivity,” organizer Corina Adams said. “We’re able to have unity and work with each other, and we’re able to walk around and march in unity.”
Awards and prizes were given away during the event. Some organizations were awarded $5,000 by Walmart for their continued effort to help advance the community.
One of those organizations was Morehouse Medicine Department, which says it plans to extend its outreach programs.
