Bibb deputies: Atlanta man charged with burglarizing 8 Macon businesses in 6 days
Bibb County deputies say a person of interest is now in custody in connection with burglaries of several businesses.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County deputies say a person of interest is now in custody in connection with burglaries of several businesses.
Just before 2 a.m. Thursday, deputies say they responded to a commercial alarm at Macon Wings, located at 4010 Northside Drive, and discovered the business had been broken into. Video footage showed the suspect and a vehicle of interest.
An investigation revealed the person of interest as 53-year-old James Darrell Essick of Atlanta. Deputies say they located him in the 2000 block of Bowman Road. He was taken into custody and later linked to several commercial burglaries in north Macon and one attempted burglary:
- Jersey Mike’s on December 23
- Tropical Smoothie Cafe on December 24 (theft of money from a tip jar)
- Tropical Smoothie Cafe on December 25
- Hype Wings on December 27
- B. Monroe Salon on December 27 (attempt)
- Macon Wings, Fried Green Tomatoes, Wagers Grill & Bar, Jimmy John’s and Sherwin Williams on December 28
Essick is charged with eight counts of felony second degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit a felony and theft by taking. He was also wanted in Fulton and Cobb counties.
He’s being held in the Bibb County Jail without bond.
