WRALL softball pummels Florida in Little League Softball Region Tournament opener
Georgia (Warner Robins American Little League) picked up where it left off at the state and district tournaments, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning in front of its hometown crowd.
“They (crowd) were just really helpful,” says Alice Thomas. “They cheered us on really good.”
Georgia led 7-0 after three innings and added eight more runs in the fourth.
“When we hit, we score a lot of runs in every game,” says manager Roger Stella. “So it didn’t surprise me.”
Lamb not only threw a no-hitter, she also contributed on offense, going 4-4 at the plate and recording 3 RBI. Emma Williams was 3-4 with 3 RBI. Ellie Williams was 3-4 with 2 RBI. Jenna Thomas was 3-3 with 2 RBI. A total of six players recorded hits.
“The reason we win if we win is because we have 13 girls, not just nine,” says Stella.
Georgia is outscoring its opponents 93-4 dating back to its district tournament. It will face Tennessee Friday at 2. Tennessee came back to beat West Virginia Thursday, 3-2.
West Virginia hadn’t allowed a run in six games dating back to its district tournament.
So how will Georgia approach Tennessee?
“Just like we did today,” says Thomas. “Really confident, really pumped up.”
