Washington, Johnson deputies searching for man near Highway 15

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Deputies are searching for a man who ran into a wooded area before law enforcement arrived at a domestic call Tuesday afternoon, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Joel Cochran said Washington County and Johnson County deputies are searching the area of the 11,000 block of Highway 15 South for 55-year-old Raymond Fred Jones.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched for a domestic call, but Jones fled into nearby woods before deputies got there.

Cochran said Jones is wanted on a Superior Court contempt order and an obstruction charge. The sheriff’s office says additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Anyone who sees Jones or has information about his location is asked to call 911 immediately.
