Warrants issued for one more man allegedly involved in Bibb double homicide
Sheriff David Davis said in a news conference on Monday that 23-year-old Arika Jarrell and 32-year-old Ralph Heard were at the Wings Cafe sports bar in Macon and were targeted by five suspects including Terrance Dent, who was killed two weeks ago.
“This was caused by as they say the root of all evil, the love of money, Davis said.
Davis said one of the suspects, Lewis Cheney, is the “mastermind” in the case, and knew Jarrell. He and four other suspects organized the robbery targeting Jarrell.
When she and Heard arrived at the house, the suspects ambushed them and were involved in a firefight.
Both Jarrell and Heard were killed in the car, and the sheriff’s office has reason to believe that Jarrell shot back hitting Dent during the firefight.
Four out of the five men took Dent to Grenada Terrace where deputies say he was then taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he later died.
Now sheriff’s deputies have a warrant out for Lewis Cheney.
“He knew what they were going to do. We have evidence that he was with the other four when they were getting everything together,” Davis said.
Cheney is said to not be in the Bibb county area.
“He knew where they were going. He knew what they were going to do. So in that respect, he’s a party to the crime,” Davis said.
Davis added the countless hours put in by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and tips from residents helped the case.
“The phones’s were ringing off of the hook with tips that came in to help the investigators piece this together.”
Anyone with information is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
