Warner Robins woman sentenced to life after pleading guilty to murder in June 2022 shooting
24-year-old Surayah Guyana Johnson of Warner Robins entered guilty pleas on Friday in connection with a June 2022 shooting that left Jamal Colson dead and two others injured.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 24-year-old Surayah Guyana Johnson of Warner Robins will serve the rest of her life in prison after entering guilty pleas on Friday in connection with a June 2022 shooting that left Jamal Colson dead and two others injured.
According to a news release from the office of Houston County District Attorney William Kendall, Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of malice murder and two counts of aggravated assault and was sentenced to life in prison on the murder charge, along with two 20-year prison sentences on the aggravated assault charges to run concurrently with the life sentence.
The DA’s Office says Johnson shot Colson with a handgun during a conversation between the two in front of the gas pumps at a convenience store on North Davis Drive.
“After shooting Colson, Johnson turned and fired into a crowd of people running away from the shots toward the front of the convenience store, striking two more victims, one in the elbow and another in the lower leg, before returning to Colson, now laying on the ground in front of the gas pumps, and firing several more times into his body,” the release said.
Johnson ran, but Warner Robins Police officers eventually took her into custody. The shooting was captured on the store’s surveillance footage, the DA’s Office said.
“In a press conference in 2022, I told the community that we would seek justice and hold the killers accountable, that’s exactly what we did here,” Kendall said. “Johnson has no place in our community. She is a cold-blooded killer, who displayed complete disregard for the lives of others. In preparation for the upcoming trial, Johnson pleaded guilty to malice murder and will spend the foreseeable future behind bars where she belongs.”
