Volunteers Keeping Macon Beautiful Awarded For Community Service

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Carolyn Crayton was among those honored during the 40th annual Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Luncheon.

The luncheon featured Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert proclaiming March 19, Carolyn Crayton Day. Crayton founded the organization and the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

The award ceremony was held Wednesday, at Vineville Methodist Church Christian Life Center, located at 2045 Vineville Ave., in Macon.

President and CEO of the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission said they honored their volunteers for their work. The volunteers have cleaned up communities in beautification projects, recycling initiatives and adopt a spot programs.

“We cannot do it without our volunteers and our public works service and our corporate sponsors it is just a day to say thank you, thank you, thank you,” said Carswell.

More than 300 guests filled the room to support the award winners.

Some of the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful awards included, beautification award, downtown business award and historical restoration award.
