Veterans baseball falls, HoCo waits until Tuesday to decide its fate
The Warhawks had taken a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning in their Final Four matchup with Carrollton and were just three outs away from moving to 1-0 in the three-game series.
But then, in the top of the 7th, Carrollton tied it at two. Later in the inning, Will Hesterlee’s 3-run homerun gave Carrollton a 5-2 lead.
Veterans added a run in the bottom of the seventh but that’s all it could do. The Warhawks also gave up five runs in Game 2, falling 5-4 in a game that ended their season.
HoCo plays Game 3 Tuesday in Gainesville
Houston County’s baseball team won Game 1 of their Final Four series at Gainesville Monday, 6-2. In a back-and-forth Game 2, the Bears fell short, 13-7. Game 3 Tuesday will decide which team moves on to the Class 5A championship game.
Stratford moves on in GISA playoffs
Stratford scored early and often in Game 2 of their quarterfinal matchup with Brookwood Monday. The Eagles won 15-4 in 5 innings and advanced to this weekend’s semifinals at Tiftarea.
Tattnall advanced to the semifinals earlier this week. They’ll host Southland this weekend.
