Valerie Wynn becomes competitor in District 6 BOE runoff, according to Georgia law

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Valeria Wynn is expected to fill the spot of Incumbent Jason Downey after he dropped out of the District 6 runoff election for the Macon-Bibb County Board of Education.

Georgia Code O.C.G.A. § 21-2-501 states, “If any candidate eligible to be in a runoff withdraws, dies, or is found to be ineligible, the remaining candidates receiving the two highest numbers of votes shall be the candidates in the runoff.”

Jason Downey, the incumbent, finished the night with 2,116 total votes for 40% of the vote. His opponent, Bob Easter, finished with 49% of the vote with 2,604 total votes. Wynn finished third with 12% of the vote.
