UPDATE: Coroner identifies woman found fatally shot in Macon
Coroner Leon Jones says it happened in the 2000 block of Adams Avenue.

UPDATE (1/15/26 – 5:17 p.m.): Coroner Leon Jones identified the woman found dead Thursday as 41-year-old India Norwood Davis. He says her family has been notified.
UPDATE (1/15/26 – 4:43 p.m.): The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says an unidentified female is dead after being found shot in the 2100 block of Adams Avenue Thursday afternoon.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the shooting was called in just before 4 p.m. Deputies arrived and found the person in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY (1/15/26 – 4:30 p.m.):
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A person with a gunshot wound was found inside a car Thursday afternoon on Adams Avenue in Macon, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
Jones told 41NBC just after 4:15 p.m. that his office was responding to a reported gunshot wound in the 2000 block of Adams Avenue. When asked whether the person had died, Jones said he didn’t have additional information yet.
Adams Avenue is located near the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Anthony Road.
As of this report, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released details.
