UPDATE: Victim in Hancock County homicide case identified

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the homicide victim as 29-year-old Justin Yeng Xiong of Eatonton.

UPDATE (6/8 5 p.m.):  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the homicide victim as 29-year-old Justin Yeng Xiong of Eatonton.


UPDATE (6/6 12:30 p.m.) :  A man wanted in connection to a body found in Hancock County is in police custody in Aiken, South Carolina.

That’s according to a news release sent Sunday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which said the GBI obtained an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Christopher Collin Demmon.

Demmon, who was already in police custody in South Carolina, will be transported to Hancock County.

DEVEREUX, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is helping the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office with a homicide investigation after a body was found Friday night.

A GBI statement released Saturday said the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office 911 center got a call around 7 o’clock Friday night from someone who believed they had found a body. Deputies responded to a property on Main Street and confirmed the discovery of a body.

“The preliminary investigation reveals that two individuals have been identified as staying at the residence on occasion,” the GBI statement said. “Agents and Hancock County investigators are interviewing neighbors and persons that have knowledge of the incident and working to locate and identify the individuals that often stay at the residence.”

The body is being sent to the GBI crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy and identification.
