Deputies: Man who fled Monroe County traffic stop taken into custody

UPDATE (9/7/26): The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a man wanted for fleeing a traffic stop was later seen near Sydney Woods Drive and Highway 42 North.

According to an update posted Monday night, deputies are still searching for the man, who is described as tall and slender with short dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing all-black clothing, a black hoodie and white Nike Air Force 1 shoes.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding a man deputies say fled a traffic stop.

According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office Monday morning, the man was seen near Sutton Road and Highway 42 North.

Deputies describe him as a tall, slender man with short dreadlocks. He was wearing all-black clothing and a black hoodie.

The sheriff’s office did not release his name or say when or why he was initially stopped.
