Two Jones County students facing battery charges after fight in school

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A pregnant Jones County teen cut a girl with scissors after the girl kicked her in the stomach, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened Friday at Jones County High School.

An incident report says Nyokia Oglesby and another girl, whose name isn’t released because she is a juvenile, started arguing. Oglesby picked up a chair and started walking toward the other girl. The teacher told her to put it down and she did, but then she picked it back up. The girls started fighting over the chair and the teacher was hit in the head with it as she tried to stop them.

Oglesby kicked the other girl in the stomach and the juvenile cut Oglesby’s hand with scissors during the fight. The other girl is 16 weeks pregnant.

Both girls are facing charges for aggravated assault, battery on school employee, and disruption of public school.

The school principal said she couldn’t comment on the fight. 41NBC is still waiting to hear back from the district’s superintendent.
