TWIGGS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man was arrested Monday after Twiggs County deputies say they found methamphetamine, syringes and marijuana during a traffic stop.

The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Wednesday that a patrol deputy stopped a Ford Escape after seeing it fail to maintain its lane in the area of Riggins Mill Road.

The post said deputies smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle, where they found syringes, methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana inside a bag.

The sheriff’s office says deputies also searched a duffle bag and found additional methamphetamine.

According to the sheriff’s office, Robert Ard claimed ownership of the illegal narcotics. He was arrested and taken to the Twiggs County Jail.

Jail records show Ard is charged with failure to maintain lane, no valid driver’s license, possession and use of drug-related objects and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
