Truck Carrying Live Chickens Topples Over

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -The on-ramp from Gray Highway to I-16 West remains closed because of a wreck.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office an 18-wheel truck toppled over this morning just before 11 a.m. carrying live chickens as cargo.

The driver was uninjured, and the passenger was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office said a strap holding the chicken crates in place broke, which shifted the load and made the truck fall over.

Because of the type of cargo, crews had to drive in from Perry to properly clean up.

Officials believe the on-ramp could be closed going into the afternoon until everything is cleaned up.
