The End Zone Week 5 preview: Westside-Southwest headlines Friday
Highlights from five games will air during 41NBC News at 11, with Rob Schiff reporting from Westside-Southwest.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Week 5 of 41NBC’s The End Zone will feature Westside against Southwest as the Game of the Week Friday, along with highlights from four other Middle Georgia matchups.
Bill Shanks will present Friday night’s highlights from the studio during 41NBC News at 11. Tucker Sargent will join Bill with highlights from Rutland at Wilkinson County, while Rob Schiff will report from the Game of the Week.
The End Zone will also feature the Linemen of the Week, Band of the Week and scores from across Middle Georgia.
Game of the Week: Westside at Southwest
Westside and Southwest will meet at the Ed DeFore Sports Complex for the first time since 2023.
Westside is 1-1 under new head coach James Harris. The Seminoles opened the season with a 39-0 loss to Northeast before beating Rutland 40-23.
Southwest is 0-2 under new head coach Roderick Cummings after losing to ACE 28-14 last week.
The Patriots last beat Westside in 2017.
Perry at Northeast
Perry enters Friday’s game at Thompson Stadium with a 1-2 record after beating Howard 48-7 last week.
Northeast is 1-1 and ranked No. 8 in Class AAA by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Raiders were off last week after losing to Warner Robins 21-20.
Perry and Northeast last played in 2019.
Sherwood Christian at Windsor
Sherwood Christian is 2-0 after beating Robert Toombs Christian Academy 28-18 two weeks ago. The Eagles were off last week.
Windsor is 2-1 and has won two straight games. The Knights were also off last week after beating Augusta Prep 41-7.
The teams last met in 2013.
Westlake at Northside
Northside returns to McConnell-Talbert Stadium one week after beating Warner Robins 32-10 for its first win over the Demons in 10 years.
The Eagles are 2-1 under head coach Daniel “Boone” Williams. Their only loss came against Mays, 23-9.
Westlake enters the game 3-0 and ranked No. 8 in Class 7A by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Lions have scored 149 points through their first three games.
Rutland at Wilkinson County
Rutland is 1-1 after an off week. The Hurricanes lost to Westside 40-23 in their most recent game.
Rutland opened the season with a win over Crawford County that ended the program’s 21-game losing streak.
Wilkinson County improved to 1-2 by beating Jefferson County 25-12 last week.
