ORIGINAL STORY (8/21/25):

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Gunfire near Waffle House on Zebulon Road sent a bullet into a nearby hotel room and forced deputies to investigate several scenes over the weekend, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

According to the report, obtained Thursday, a deputy responded to 6220 Zebulon Road around 12:12 a.m. on Saturday, August 16 regarding several gunshots. Deputies found shell casings on the access road between the Waffle House and Pizza Hut. Witnesses told deputies they saw a dark blue Challenger and a Charger chasing a man carrying a firearm.

Two juveniles told deputies they saw a man wearing a face mask in the parking lot who began to dig in his pants. They said they ran off because they “knew something was about to happen,” and that’s when they heard shots. One juvenile described the male as wearing a white hoodie, while the other said he wore a black hoodie.

Deputies later responded to the Wingate hotel across the street, where a bullet went through the window and wall of room 206, according to the report. A hotel desk attendant said the bullet traveled into room 207, where two women were asleep. Both women reported hearing a loud bang before calling the front desk and discovering the wall had “exploded.”

No injuries were reported.

Deputies collected shell casings at the scene and sent them to the crime lab for evidence. The case remains active.
