Taylor County girls beat Turner County in state title game

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Taylor County’s girls basketball team built a 17-point halftime lead and cruised to a 67-54 win over Turner County in Thursday’s GHSA Class A Public title game.

Turner County (28-3) cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Vikings (31-0) held on to win the program’s eleventh state title and first since 2003.

Kelsie Towns had 19 points for Taylor County, including five 3-pointers. She added 10 rebounds. Rasheka Simmons scored 19 points and added four assists and five steals.
