Suspicious package at Middle Georgia Regional Airport
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb sheriff’s office responded to a suspicious package at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport around 9:00 A.M.
An employee of Hertz Car Rental Office notified Bibb sheriff deputies at the airport of the dark colored suitcase that was right outside of the airport’s main entrance.
A vehicle was spotted in the area, but no one was seen leaving the suitcase.
A sweep and evacuation of the building was done.
The Bibb Sheriff’s office Bomb Squad and Macon-Bibb Fire Department accessed the situation.
The suitcase was detonated and no traces of explosive devices were found.
