Stratford’s Cephus makes Wisconsin commitment official
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Stratford’s Quintez Cephus is officially Wisconsin bound.
The senior signed his national letter of intent Wednesday morning in front of a jam-packed Grady Gymnasium. He stuck with the Badgers despite a late run by a few other schools, including Mark Richt’s Miami Hurricanes.
“It was great to see coach Richt,” Cephus said. “I’ve always been a fan of coach Richt, so it was good to have him come to Stratford and see me. I did think about being on South Beach some but I just had to make the best decision for me and my family.”
Wisconsin was the first big-time school to offer the two-sport athlete. Cephus originally gave a verbal commitment to Furman University’s basketball program.
