Students at Sonny Carter Elementary School honor local veterans

Students played the drums, sang "God Bless America", and even delivered speeches. The speeches were a time for students to thank veterans for their service.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Sonny Carter Elementary School held the Annual Veterans Day Program on Monday.

Students performed for their peers, parents and teachers on Veterans Day.

Students played the drums, sang “God Bless America” and even delivered speeches. The speeches were a time for students to thank veterans for their service.

According to Sonny Carter Principal, Latricia Reeves, the school has put on the Veterans Day Program for years.

Principal Reeves said the event is a way to honor those who serve and their sacrifices they have made for America.
