Smith’s 5th inning triple lifts Georgia over North Carolina on Day 1 of Little League Southeastern Region Tournament
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Northern Little League (Columbus) scored four runs in the fifth inning of Saturday’s pool play game against North Carolina to win 5-3.
Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Jagger Smith’s 3-RBI triple was enough to give Team Georgia the lead. A North Carolina error brought Smith home to put Georgia ahead 5-3. North Carolina failed to score in the last inning.
Georgia (1-0) joins Florida (1-0) as the two unbeaten teams from Pool A after one day of play. Georgia plays West Virginia, which lost 4-3 to Florida on Saturday, Monday at 4.
