Seven former Trojans, three teams selected to first Tattnall Hall of Fame

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  Seven former Tattnall Square Trojans are a part of the school’s first athletics hall of fame class.

The players and coaches were recognized at a banquet Saturday.  The class includes former football coach Barney Hester, who led the Trojans to 11 state championships in 32 seasons.  Hester left the school after the 2012 season to take the head coaching job at Howard.

“When you stay somewhere 30 years, you leave a piece of your heart,” Hester said.  “Of course, I did that.  It’s always special and always will be special, but I’m honored to be part of this group.”

The 1988 football team, 1989 softball team and 2000 baseball team were also inducted into the hall of fame.  The other inductees are Richard Reid, Craig Jones, Brenda Arnett, Tracy Hamilton, Donnie Allen and Josh Loosier.
