Scattered storms remain likely through this weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Seasonal temperatures are expected with close to half the region seeing showers and storms during the afternoon and evening Saturday and Sunday
This Evening
Today has been the hottest afternoon this week with basically every location recording a heat index over 100 degrees with a couple spots reaching 110. Isolated storms are possible through this evening and into early tonight. Severe activity is not expected however the most intense storms could bring a few strong wind gusts. Temperatures will valley in the low to mid 70s under partly cloudy skies. Patchy fog will be possible for areas that receive rain this evening. The wind will flow from the west-northwest around 5 mph.
Tomorrow
Saturday will be another hot afternoon as the rain chances will likely hold off until late into the day. Plenty of sun is expected early with cloud cover filling in during lunchtime and the late afternoon. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s with real feels again largely eclipsing 100 degrees. The wind will generally flow out of the west at around 5-12 mph. Gusts could reach to around 18 mph. The most intense storms will be possible in the late afternoon and early evening with a few damaging gusts or hail possible.
Overnight will be partly cloudy and muggy with temperatures again only dropping into the mid 70s for much of the region. Fog will be possible heading into Sunday with the best odds for it in areas that receive rain.
Sunday and Beyond
Seasonal conditions under partly cloudy skies will continue through the back half of the weekend and early next week. Expect around half of Middle Georgia to see storms over the back half of each day. Rain odds may drop some late next week (or could increase depending on tropical activity).
Watching the Tropics
There is now more uncertainty surrounding the low pressure in the Gulf. It is expected to remain pretty stationary through the weekend before moving again. It now appears possible it could move either east or west which would lead to two very different forecasts for Middle Georgia. It currently has 10% odds to become a depression in the next 48 hours and 30% odds to develop into a depression over the next 7 days. The area off the west coast of Africa near Cape Verde remains at 10% odds for development.
