Savannah State Musicians Perform at Southwest High School

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Savannah State University Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band Concert Choir treated students at Southwest High School to a private performance Tuesday morning.

After the hour long show, Southwest students got an opportunity to audition for Savannah State’s music program, and also earn scholarships.

Dominique Lane, Director of Bands at Southwest, says experiences such as this are great for his students.

“It’s just a great opportunity for recruitment for savannah state and exposure for arts in the school and really advocation for band programs and chorus programs within our public schools,” said Lane.

Lane says the Savannah State music directors have visited Southwest in the past to audition students for the next level, and he’s glad they returned this year.
