Salvation Army hosts inaugural fishing tournament fundraiser

The Salvation Army held its first ever Casting for Hope Bass Tournament at Lake Sinclair over the weekend.

EATONTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Salvation Army held its first ever Casting for Hope Bass Tournament at Lake Sinclair over the weekend.

It’s a way for the charity to raise money to run its shelters now that its thrift stores are closed.

30 teams and about 60 people participated. We spoke with Warner Robins Police Officer Greg Martin about what it means to be involved.

“Salvation Army provides an excellent resource for us, especially when it comes to homeless people,” Martin said. “So being able to support them through what we do is an amazing thing for us.”

Winners of the tournament:

  • Phil Ozburn and Jared Ozburn took 1st place
  • Brian Garner and Cody Garner took 2nd place
  • Clayton Faircloth and Josh Harrison took 3rd place

Major Rebekah Poole says they hope to host another tournament next year.
