Rubber ducks float down river in Hawkinsville for annual race
HAWKINSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – More than 1,000 yellow rubber ducks floated down the Ocmulgee river in Hawkinsville on Saturday.
People bought the ducks, they were numbered, and then thrown into the water to see who’s duck would get down the river first.
Frankie Pennone, Board Chairman for the Hawkinsville Chamber of Commerce, said the race was created three years ago to bring attention to the river.
“The fact that we’ve got two boat landings, two really good boat landings here in Hawkinsville, we’d like for people to use them a little more. ” Pennone said. “That brings more people to Hawkinsville for other things”
The winner of the race got a $500 gift card to Academy Sport + Outdoors.
