Road race raises money for Special Olympics athletes

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Around a hundred people helped raise money for Special Olympics athletes Saturday morning by competing in a road race at Geico.

The company sponsored a 5K and One Mile Fun Run/Walk for the 33rd straight year.

“It helps them get to their Summer Games events, said Chris Nappi, an overnight manager at Geico. “It pays for their expenses, pays for their rooms and food. We’re going to raise about $71,000. We are going to do a check presentation after the race today, so it all goes to a good cause.”
