Restaurant Report Card: Pig On A Pie

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – You can get some great pizza and wings at Pig On A Pie.

“The sauce is good, the wings are good, the people are great, I love–it’s just the best place in Macon, the best people place in Macon.”

It seems there a lot to like at the restaurant at 5797 Houston Road in Macon.

“It’s difficult to choose a favorite,” said one customer.

But it’s easy to see why they’re on Restaurant Report Card–that elusive 100 on the health inspection and a wings/pizza combo that’s a 1-2 knockout punch.

“When you walk in somewhere and someone remembers your name, it makes you feel good,” said owner Don Bass. “That’s what we’re all about. Not only try to give you good, quality food, but a good time here–enjoy it.”

But first a restaurant that needs to step it up this week.

Sonny’s Real Pit Barbecue at 1001 St. Patrick Drive in Perry scored a 73.

There was a mold-like substance in the ice machine, the Brunswick Stew wasn’t hot enough, and there wasn’t enough chlorine in the dish water.

You can find other scores this week right here.

Some good scores this week, and whether you want pizza or wings, Pig On A Pie has got you covered.

“Oh I think it was excellent compared to most of the pizza and wings places out here I mean it’s got a distinctive taste, unique flavors,” said customer Jeramy Dyer.

“When you walk in somewhere, you don’t want to walk in somewhere that’s dirty,” said Bass. “You’re going to walk in you’re think, if they’re keeping it this dirty, they’re not keeping the food clean either. Like I said, it all goes back to reputation.”

And Pig on a Pie’s reputation is great in my book–they’re making the grade this week.

Until next week, I’m Sean Franklin, and this has been 41NBC’s Restaurant Report Card.
