MILEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GC ATHLETICS RELEASE) – Georgia College baseball player Josh Taylor (Phoenix) was recently signed by the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. He will report to the Rookie level Gulf Coast League Phillies and begin pitching immediately.

The now former Bobcat played one year at Georgia College after transferring from Scottsdale Community College in Arizona. Taylor started 15 games for the Bobcats a year ago, going 7-4 with a 5.62 ERA and compiling 57 strikeouts over 83 1/3 innings.

One of his longest outings of the year was an eight-inning performance against Georgia Southwestern State University in which he gave up one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts.

Taylor was pitching for the St. Cloud Rox of the Northwoods League this summer. He started 10 games for the Rox, pitching 44 and 2/3 innings. His 3.82 ERA and 51 strikeouts were good enough to be named an All-Star in the Northwoods League.
