Pensacola spoils Mayhem’s opening night with shutout win
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Mayhem started the season with a shutout loss to Pensacola.
The Ice Flyers invaded the Coliseum Friday night and beat the defending Southern Professional Hockey League Champions, 4-0.
Pensacola’s Trever Hertz opened the scoring three minutes into the second period. Stephen Hrehoriak made it 2-0 16 minutes later and Daniel Tedesco found the net a second before the final intermission.
Robert Lepine scored in the third.
More than 3,500 showed up for “Championship Night” to watch the Mayhem unveil their regular season and playoff championship banners from last season.
The Huntsville Havoc is in town Saturday. The puck drops at 7:35.
