Peach County pair to play baseball at Brewton-Parker

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – They’ve played baseball together since elementary school, and they’re not done yet.

For the next few years, Justin Brown and Austin Webb, former players at Peach County, will suit up alongside one another at Brewton-Park College. Left with no big-time offers after graduation, the pair attended a tryout at the Mt. Vernon school and impressed the head coach.

They both signed with the Barons Thursday.  Both Brown and Webb say their new coach is a lot like Peach County’s Jeff Bailey.

“He’s the same hard-nosed guy,” Brown says of Brewton-Parker’s Greg Mullins. “Strictly business, but he will play around with you.”

“Yeah he’s pretty strict about bullpens and everything,” Webb says of his new coach. “Conditioning–you’ve got to keep on top.”

Bailey is sad to see the pair go.

“They’ve been three-year varsity starters,” he says. “They’ve been four-year varsity members of the team, so I’m going to miss them, but I’m very glad they both received this opportunity together.”

Brown and Webb join Grant Perry as PCHS graduates continuing their baseball careers.  Perry signed with LaGrange College earlier this year.
