One Bed – One Dream campaign aims to provide beds for 1,500 Bibb County children
The Tubman Museum and Bibb County School District are asking the community to help provide beds and bedding for local children.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A new community campaign is working to get Bibb County children off the floor and into a bed.
The One Bed, One Dream campaign launched Friday at the Tubman African American Museum. The campaign is a partnership between the Tubman Museum and the Bibb County School District, with support from community partners.
Organizers say about 1,500 Bibb County children may be sleeping on the floor or without a proper bed.
Bibb County School District Superintendent Dr. Dan Sims says the campaign is calling on the entire community to help.
“We’re going to be calling on this entire community to join forces with us as we do our part to ensure that every single child has the chance to have a dream, every single night, in a bed, comfortable and able to come to school and thrive every single day,” Sims said.
The campaign is asking the community to help provide beds, mattresses, pillows, sheets and other bedding.
The campaign will run through October 3.
People can purchase a bed or bedding and have it delivered to the Tubman Museum, make a financial donation, go to Macon Bed and Mattress and purchase a One Bed- One Dream certificate, or volunteer to help with collection and distribution.
