Miss America 2016 first to record at Mercer Music at Capricorn Studio
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Betty Cantrell, who is also known as Miss America 2016, is recording her first country EP in Macon.
The Warner Robins native is the first to record in the Mercer Music at Capricorn Studio. She, along with ‘The Voice’ contestant Johnathan Wyndham, recorded a few songs with strong ties to Macon. The two worked with Grammy-nominated producer, Steve Ivey.
Cantrell says although Miss America was fun, it’s nice to be able to come home and do what she loves.
“Thanks to Miss America, I’ll be able to pursue my country music career which has always been my lifelong dream,” Cantrell said. “And getting to kick it off right here in my hometown, it’s amazing. Being where the Allman Brothers recorded, it’s such an honor.”
Mercer Music at Capricorn is hoping this recording will launch their mission of innovation meeting preservation. They want to put Macon back on the map as a place to make great music.
