MGSC hosts first Strongman Competition
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A crowd gathered in a parking lot at Middle Georgia State College Saturday for the school’s first Strongman Competition.
More than two dozen, including 20 students, put on a show of physical strength with events like a truck pull, press medley, overhead press and yoke carry.
If you’re wondering what a yoke carry is, it’s basically picking up and carrying a weight rack (totaling about 450 pounds) for 50 feet.
“We have a men’s division–heavyweight and lightweight,” Harley Miller, Fitness and Wellness Coordinator at MGSC says. “And we also have a women’s division.”
Those who placed took home trophies. Miller plans to host similar events in the future.
