MGSC club football coach leaving for South Dakota
COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia State club football head coach Jeremy Hawkins announces on Twitter he’s taken a new job.
Hawkins is heading to South Dakota, where he’ll help coach the defensive line at the University of South Dakota.
The job is with many of the coaches he worked with in his previous coaching stop at Central Oklahoma.
“Charles Mullis the athletic director and James Hagler the associate athletic director gave me the opportunity of a lifetime for, at the time, a 27-year-old man,” Hawkins told 41NBC Thursday. “I talked to James today and he was excited for me. I told him it was a Division 1 job that was calling me and I just couldn’t turn it down.”
Hawkins’ resignation won’t be official until Monday. MGSC will then begin its search for a new coach, according to Hagler.
