MGA Volleyball wins first ever match

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In the first volleyball match in school history, the Middle Georgia State Knights took down Fisk University.

In the “old gym” on the Macon campus Tuesday, where they’ll play all 12 home matches this season, the Knights beat the Lady Bulldogs 25-20, 25-21, 26-28, 25-18.

The match was delayed about 45 minutes because Fisk was late arriving, but students and fans stayed to cheer their team on to victory.

Other than cross country, volleyball is the only school sport based in Macon. The rest are on the Cochran campus.

“It provides our students with an opportunity for an activity,” says James Hagler, the school’s interim athletic director. “As you can see, we have a rather large crowd for our inaugural match. We’ve got a total of 12 home dates this year.”
