MGA Knights club football team announces new head coach

COCHRAN, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia State College has a new club football coach.

Jeremy Hawkins, a Troy University graduate who was a member of the school’s first bowl-winning team will replace former head coach Dustan Jump.  According to a release from the school, the Knights hired Stuart Gottlieb as coach in April but he has since resigned, citing health issues.

The Knights are ranked third in the National Club Football Association’s preseason poll.  The program, in its third season, looked to continue its recent success, having gone 17-3 in the previous two years with a win in the Intercollegiate Club Football Federation National Championship Game in 2012 and an appearance in the NCFA title game in 2013.

They’ll hopen the season Sunday, September 7 at 2 p.m. at Bonaire Middle School against Columbus State.  The teams have met three times in the past two sesaons with the Knights winning all three meetings.
