Mercer’s Lamb: ‘We’ve got all positions open’

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Less than a week after National Signing Day, Mercer’s football team is already practicing for the 2015 season.

The Bears opened their spring camp Sunday afternoon, practicing in shorts and helmets after starting the day with position meetings. The 2015 team returns all 11 starters on both offense and defense, but head coach Bobby Lamb tells 41NBC nothing is set in stone.

“We want to be very competitive,” Lamb says. “We’ve got some redshirt freshman that are looking for a job. We’ve got some guys who were injured last year who are looking for a job. We’ve got all positions open. I’m just looking for a really competitive day every day we practice.”

The Bears, who went 6-6 last season including a 1-6 mark in their first year in the Southern Conference, continue their spring schedule Monday. They’ll put on shoulder pads Wednesday and will be in full pads starting Friday.
