The Bears, who entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed after claiming the regular season title, beat No. 2 seed Samford 5-0 in Sunday’s championship game thanks to a complete game, six-hit shutout from pitcher Ben Nyquist.

Mercer opened scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run home run by Trey Truitt (3-3, 2 RBI). Matt Meeder (1-3, 1 run) scored after an error to give the Bears a 3-0 lead.
