Mentors Project hosts Cherry Blossom Tea Party
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Mentors Project of Bibb County held its annual Cherry Blossom Tea Party at the historic American Red Cross building in Macon Tuesday afternoon.
Young participants of the program were on hand to serve the clad-in-pink guests traditional hot tea, as well as finger sandwiches and a multitude of miniature desserts.
“It’s all about teaching young people the gracious gift of hospitality in the South,” said June O’Neal, the Mentors Project executive director. “And we are having visitors from all over the world and it’s a great day for us.”
The occasion is used as a teaching tool for young men and women to learn how to interact with others in varying social situations. The event was free to attend.
“We were so fortunate to partner with Twin Cedars and the American Red Cross to provide this wonderful day as a gift to the community,” O’Neal continued.
The Cherry Blossom Tea Party has been an annual event for over ten years.
