McIntyre parks and recreation director fired

MCINTYRE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — There’s been a shake-up in McIntyre’s leadership after the city council voted to fire McIntyre Parks and Recreation Director, James Hagins.

McIntyre city clerk, Pam Roberts, tells 41NBC Hagins was fired Monday night on “grounds of entering an unauthorized contract with Middle Georgia Consortium.”

According to Carolyn Robertson with MGC, the non-profit is centered around an employment training program that helps get work experience.

41NBC reached out to Hagins for comment. He told us he couldn’t talk about the matter right now.

McIntyre Mayor Vicki Horne said there was nothing illegal going on, but told 41NBC over the phone, “The council decided it was time to take this position and move it in a different direction.”

Hagins is also a Wilkinson County Commissioner and the head football coach at Wilkinson County High School.
