Mattix named PBC Baseball’s Freshman of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. (GC ATHLETICS) – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) named Georgia College freshman Logan Mattix (Loganville) its baseball freshman of the week after he helped the Bobcats win four out of five games last week.

Highlights of Mattix’s past week include eight RBIs, a .368 batting average and a .842 slugging percentage as the Bobcats faced Toccoa Falls College and conference rivals Young Harris College.

Wednesday’s Toccoa Falls doubleheader at home allowed Mattix to post a total of five RBIs and four runs. In the first game alone, Mattix led the Bobcats in batting with four RBIs and three runs, including a triple and home run.

The weekend’s action at Young Harris boded well for the centerfielder as well. Game two of the three-game weekend saw Mattix take two hits, including a double, with two RBIs. Mattix recorded a home run and RBI for the series finale.

With two home runs, six runs scored and three stolen bases, the centerfielder certainly helped with the Bobcats’ success at the plate last week.

Mattix and the rest of the baseball team will take on the men of Valdosta State University in Valdosta as their next challenge today at 5 p.m.
