Macon-Bibb Public Works donates canned items during food drive

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb Public Works Department food drive has been going on since last week, and it was a huge success.

Nearly 60 people collected 4200 items to donate to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.

Workers loaded the items on a truck to deliver them Friday.

Director Marvin Land divided his employees into teams and had them compete for a prize.

Whichever team donated the most items won.

The prize came out of his own pocket.

“The teamwork and how the employees took ownership of this competition and this is from eight days (of donating).”

Land says he hopes to expand the competition to other departments in the county next year.
