Macon-Bibb NAACP holds “Stop the Violence” rally
Macon, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb branch of the NAACP held a “Stop the Violence” rally Saturday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church.
Speakers spoke with kids about how to stay out of trouble. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis also attended the event.
Organizers believe that in order for change to happen, it has to start in the community.
“Our communities are only as safe as we make them,” said Willie Dumas, first vice president of the branch. “It’s according to how we educate our children, what we instill in them and also how we enforce certain laws in the community to keep us all safe.”
The branch plans to hold more functions to address violence in the neighborhood.
