Macon-Bibb committee approves $1.4 million for Bibb Sheriff body cameras
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office wants Taser to provide the department with body cameras.
Macon-Bibb’s Operation and Finance Committee approved spending $1.4 million dollars over the next five years for the equipment.
Col. Aubrey Evins from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said that will pay for 250 body cameras and the storage space for the video.
“It gives the officers accountability when they’re out there to be professional and it gives the public the perspective that we need to be on our best too because we’re being monitored,” said Col. Evins.
Deputies are expected to be wearing their body cameras by August.
