Macon-Bibb commission hears presentations on eliminating blight

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb leaders are looking at eliminating boarded up homes and overgrown vacant lots.

The Macon-Bibb Blight Committee held interviews for companies seeking a contract with the county to clear out dilapidated structures. There are five voting commissioners on the blight committee.

Five companies made their presentations Tuesday. Committee members questioned their home demolition skills, how they’ll go about clearing out asbestos, and their plans for handling vacant lots.

Those companies include Austin Smith Center for Economic Development, Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants, Harmon Masonry & Construction, Northeast Concrete and Porter Scientific.
