Macon Arts Alliance gets major award from Governor Deal
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon is rich in art history and now it is getting even richer. Governor Nathan Deal is honoring the Macon Arts Alliance with a major award.
Jan Beeland, Executive Director of the Macon Arts Alliance said, “I was tearful actually, because I was so excited about it.”
There’s good reason for Beeland and her staff to be excited. The Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities honors outstanding individuals and organizations that make significant contributions to Georgia’s civic and cultural vitality.
Beeland expressed, “It’s a very cool thing I think it validates what the Macon Arts Alliance has been doing over the last 32 years and it’s been recognized for it.”
The Macon Arts Alliance is in very company winning this award. People and organizations in Atlanta and Savannah also won the award this year .
Beeland added, “We have everything from music to visual art to entrepreneurs.”
From the Tubman Museum of African American Art History and Culture to the king of soul and so much more Macon truly is where the arts play on and live.
A dozen awards were are given out each year. This is the fifth year for the program.
